This week the ‘Punch One’ visited the headquarters of iLumen. This is the sixth solar car of the Belgian Solar Team. Last year the car finished fifth during the World Solar Challenge, the World Championship for solar cars. With a top speed of 120 km/h the Punch One is the fastest Belgian solar car ever.

Recently, members of the Solar Team elected the team members who will build the seventh Belgian solar car. The team will participate at the iLumen European Solar Challenge at Circuit Zolder. They will compete with other teams from all over Europe to beat the legendary Tesla S model during a 24 hour race.

Two Project Managers of iLumen were part of the Belgian solar team who achieved a briliant second place at the World Solar Challenge of 2007. In 2005, another iLumen team member participated. iLumen wishes the seventh Belgian solar team good luck with their participation at the iESC and in the construction of their car for the World Solar Challenge.
