Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Durham University Electric Motorsport (DUEM) solar team had to cancel participation for the 24 hours iLumen European Solar Challenge.
The team members of DUEM came with the brilliant idea to ride their own virtual iESC. Under the spirit of the event, they rented Ouston Airfield as the perfect location for this exciting effort.
During this 24 hour event, the DUEM team travelled a total distance of 414 km – approximately the distance from Durham to London! – and achieved a fastest lap-time of just 5:00:92s around the 4.5 km track.
The organizing committee of the iESC rewarded the DUEM team with the well-deserved ‘Hybrid Challenge Award’
