The Umicore Solar Team from Belgium consists of students and graduates of Group T in Leuven. The team participated already three times in the World Solar Challenge. The five goals of the Umicore Solar Team are the following:
Raising awareness: We want people in Belgium and in the whole world to become aware of the fact that using fossil fuels will end one day and that there are alternatives in the form of green energy, specifically solar energy.
Promotion: What a lot of people do not know is...
A team of 18 young, committed students with only one goal: together build the most innovative solar car and conquer a top position in the World Solar Challenge, a 3010 km race across the Australian desert. Building solar-powered electric racing cars has a long history at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences: The first car, HansGo!, was introduced in 2003. It was the first and the last "typical" solar car built by the team at our university. Over the next 2 generations of cars we moved from the flat-shaped design of HansGo! towards a design that has more suitability for daily use than any other solar-car competing in the World Solar Challenge.
The second car, SolarWorld No.1, named after the...
This French team from HEI (Lille) has been founded in 1992 and since then, four solar prototypes have come into the world. Helios has participated six times to the World Solar Challenge which is the most famous solar race worldwide.
These projects are developed not only by students but also with the help of former members of the association who have a degree of HEI : this is a great chance for everyone to meet and work in the garage and perform abroad together. Thanks to their experience, we...
Cambridge University Eco Racing is a student-run team based at the university's Engineering Department. It was founded in 2007, with the aim of building a solar car to compete in the World Solar Challenge 2009. In June 2008 our prototype vehicle completed a run along the length of the UK, becoming the first solar vehicle to drive on UK roads. In the WSC 2009 our vehicle Endeavour finished 14th despite major battery problems. We are now looking to re-design our car to improve on this performance...
